Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, also known as the Mosque of the Prophet or the Prophet’s Mosque, is a mosque built in Medina after the Hijra by the Islamic prophet Muhammad and his companions. The mosque also houses the tomb of Muhammad. The term “Nabawi” in Arabic means “belonging to the Prophet,” so the full expression “Masjid al-Nabawi” translates as “The Prophet’s Mosque.”
